BMW 5-series

A turbocharged 248-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard equipment, while the top M550i xDrive model gets all-wheel drive, a twin-turbo 456-horsepower 4.0-liter turbo V8 and hits 60 mph in 4.0 seconds. The plug-in hybrid 530e iPerformance model reaches 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and can cover 15 miles on battery power, farther when its 4-cylinder engine engages. Excellent car.

Honda CR-V 2017 

The base CR-V LX is fitted with a 184-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder, essentially carried over from the 2016 model. But the EX, EX-L, and Touring trim levels sport a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 190 hp. Slightly larger than the outgoing version, the fifth-generation CR-V is 1.4 inches wider and taller, and a smidge longer. The dimensional stretch promises a bit more cabin space. Yet despite the growth spurt, the CR-V weighs about 58 pounds less than before. A hands-free hatch opening on the Touring trim is activated by waving a foot under the bumper. An available 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system offers Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility and Garmin navigation. Advanced safety gear such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning come with the EX trim. In addition, the EX, EX-L, and Touring will include adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

Mercedes-Maybach S550 4MATIC 2017

With 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque routed to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, Mercedes’ twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 flings the S550’s 5189 pounds to 60 mph in five seconds flat -real sports car. The quarter-mile takes just 13.5 seconds at 109 mph, while the governor steps in at 131 mph.The Maybach incorporates all of the latest safety and infotainment technology from the S-class.

Jeep Compass

The original Compass, developed under DaimlerChrysler's stifling management, was a mess, launching with a poor engine and transmission, impoverished interior materials and styling. The vehicle will be powered by 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that will produce around 160 BHP – 250 Nm and 2.0-litre diesel that will churn out a maximum of 170 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. 

Volkswagen Atlas

The Atlas' conservative styling encloses an eight-speed automatic transmission and a choice of V6 or turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engines.

Honda Civic Type R

Based on the new Mk10 family car, it sticks with the outgoing model’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo, but ups power by 10bhp to 316bhp. It’s front-wheel drive and comes only with a six-speed manual box, as before. New Type R is likely to be slightly faster from 0-62mph than the outgoing car, which took 5.7 seconds. Lamborghini Huracan Performante

The new model will be lighter than the standard car, thanks to added ‘forged carbon’ in its construction. That should lead to sharper handling, with revised suspension geometry, plus it will feature active aerodynamics to boost high-speed performance. Lexus is aiming to take on upmarket grand tourers such as the Mercedes S-Class Coupe and Maserati GranCoupe with its a new luxury sport coupe LC 500. The bold two-door stands out with its concept car looks and comes with either 5.0-litre V8 or hi-tech 3.5-litre V6 hybrid power, and the latter features an innovative new CVT gearbox that’s designed to deliver a much sportier driving experience.
